OBSERVATIONS
I am starting to feel REALLY bad for NBC...it's not that this show is that bad, it's competition is just that good.   Maybe a change of days and time slot would help

UNRELATED NOTES
Streaming sneak peeks for up all night and whitney coming soon!  I won't call it a trend, but aren't a couple of soap operas going web based as well?

week 2 performance up all night

from zap2it...

Over at distant fourth-place NBC, week two of aforementioned sitcoms Up All Night and Free Agents, as expected, took a significant hit from their week-ago Wednesday 10-11 p.m. openers out of the season-finale of America’s Got Talent. Take a look:

Up All Night (NBC)
9/14/11 – Wed. 10 p.m.: 7.5/12
9/21/11 – Wed. 8 p.m.: 4.7/ 8
Percent Change: -37
my observations...
this drop in ratings, although significant, had to be expected by nbc...it went up against simon cowell's juggernaut, the x factor, and cbs' survivor premieres.  not mention abc's the middle already has an established audience...but bear in mind...they are re airing this week's episode paired with the pilot of whitney, which grabbed a modest debut in ratings with a 3.3/9 share...i fully expect more schedule adjustment, i just hope not to saturday nights

i got this from the hollywood reporter...it's relevant to class

Airing after the finale of America's Got Talent, NBC's freshman comedy Up All Night debuted well.
America's Got Talent (14 million total viewers, 3.5 rating in adults 18-49 demographic), down 10 percent compared to last summer's finale, won its 8-10 p.m. time period among adults 18-49 and nearly all other key categories -- including a season high in total tune-in. Talent also posted its highest demo rating for a Wednesday telecast since July 6.
The two-hour Talent finale paid off for rookie comedies, Up All Night (10.9 million, 3.7) and Free Agents (6.3 million, 2.1), the former of which was the top-rated program of the night and building on its lead-in. Up All Night, starring Christina Applegate, Will Arnett and Maya Rudolph moves to its regular time slot next week: Wednesdays at 8 p.m. Free Agents, with Hank Azaria, will follow at 8:30 p.m. NBC won the night in viewers, averaging 12.2 million, and the key demo, averaging a 3.3.
CBS' 90-minute season ender of Big Brother (7.7 million, 2.9), crowning Rachel as the grand prize winner, remained steady with last year's closer. Big Brother wrapped up its best season since 2004 among adults 18-49 and 25-54. Its lead-in, the premiere of Survivor: South Pacific (10.6 million, 3.4) won its 8-9:30 p.m. time period among adults 18-49 and 25-54, though it dipped 15 percent from last fall's premiere. Compared to the spring premiere, however, Survivor improved 6 percent.
Fox's Buried Treasure (2.8 millio, 0.8) was down five tenths compared to last week with heavier premiere and finale competition.
The CW's H8R (1.3 million, 0.6) premiere marked the network's most-watched premiere of a reality series since Hitched or Ditched in May 2009. It also posted the highest adults 18-34 rating for an unscripted premiere in two years. The return of America's Next Top Model (1.9 million, 0.9 topped last season's averages in the time period by 9 percent in total viewers and 13 percent in the adults 18-49. The all-star season of Top Model opened with a 42 percent improvement from H8R in viewers

up all night

I lifted this from the NBC site...i guess i'll be blogging about more come wed night

Up All Night," created by Emily Spivey (NBC's "Parks and Recreation" and "Saturday Night Live") and executive produced by Lorne Michaels (NBC's "Saturday Night Live" and "30 Rock"), is an irreverent look at modern parenthood.
Christina Applegate ("Samantha Who?") stars as Reagan Brinkley: loving wife, successful career woman, life of the party and, most recently, mom. Determined not to compromise her career or cool reputation to the cliches of motherhood, Reagan adjusts to life with a baby and returns to work with the support of her stay-at-home husband, Chris (Will Arnett, "Arrested Development"). As Reagan and Chris figure out their new life, self-doubt, sleep deprivation and the pressure of today's parenting protocols rattle their confidence. What's more, the endless needs of Reagan's boss, ambitious but vulnerable talk-show host Ava (Maya Rudolph, "Saturday Night Live," "Bridesmaids"), threaten to throw Reagan off balance.
"Up All Night" is a Broadway Video and Universal Media Studios production. Along with Michaels and Spivey, Jon Pollack ("30 Rock") and Erin David ("Saturday Night Live") serve as executive producers. Christina Applegate, Eric Kranzler and Andrew Singer are producers.
